Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History Decoration

This hanging decoration features a circular design with the impact statement: “Well-behaved women rarely make history.”

The phrase is based on a quote from the Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. It is a powerful statement highlighting historical injustice, and how the famous women of history had to break convention in order to be heard.

St. Nicolas are a London-based team specialising in bespoke decorations. Each one is handmade by their partners, a small charity in Thailand and a family-run business in Northern India. They use traditional methods such as zardozi (‘gold embroidery’), which originated in Persia and reached India in the 12th century. They are a proud member of BAFTS (British Association of Fair Trade Suppliers) and support the 10 Principles of Fair Trade, as set out by the World Fair Trade Organisation.
