Description
The textiles of Tudor England [1509-1558] have inspired this vibrant table runner. Magnificent pomp & display marked Henry VIII day. The royal meeting at the Field of the 'Cloth of Gold' was characteristic of the splendour of the period. This was also the time of Italian silks & satins with the marvellous colours crimson, masareene blue, dove coloured fabric embellished with orange, tawn & russets. The first printed pattern book was also published in Augsburg Germany [1523], followed by dozens of similar books. Cross-stitch, two sided Italian crossstitch, Tent & Basketweave, Brick & Encroached Gobelin were some of the favoured Embroidery stitches of these times.
