Description
The textiles of Tudor England have inspired this vibrant cushion. Magnificent pomp & display marked Henry VIII's day. The royal meeting at the Field of the 'Cloth of Gold' was characteristic of the splendour of the period. This was also the time of Italian silks & satins with the marvellous colours crimson, masareene blue, dove coloured fabric embellished with orange, tawn & russets.
The Tudor Rose featured on this cushion, sometimes called the Union Rose, is the traditional floral heraldic emblem of England and takes its name and origins from the Tudor dynasty. The symbol features in many aspects of Westminster Abbey.
This graceful tapestry cushion has been woven on a Jacquard loom by Flemish Master Weavers, giving an exceptionally fine but hard wearing weave.
