Description
Designed by British illustrator, Kirsty R. Walker, this bookmark features a hand-drawn illustration of Dame Margot Fonteyn (1919 - 1991). the greatest ballerina of her generation, Fonteyn was born Margaret Hookham in Reigate in Surrey on 18th May. She was inspired by Markova's dancing and joined the Vic-Wells school. Later she took the stage name Margot Fontes, which became Fonteyn. You can find the memorial to her in Poets' Corner inside Westminster Abbey.
Kirsty R. Walker is an Illustrator & Designer based in the Northeast of England, who studied Illustration at Loughborough University.
She has been Illustrating Greetings cards and Stationery products since 2001 and was always drawn to Children’s book illustrations and
stationary shops from a young age.
Kirsty uses a variety of mixed media, from gouache paints to printed collage to create her illustrations and has developed this series of historical figures exclusively for Westminster Abbey, with each one telling a story of their own.
