Description
Designed by William Morris & Dearle, with animals drawn by Philip Webb. Woven at Abbey Surrey in c1887. Original size 1.5x1.2m. Despite Morris's ambitions to be a painter & his latter reputation as a, poet, publisher & political activist, it is as a designer that is most widely known. His style formed a bridge between Victorian & modern composition, the emphasis of Morris' timeless style is on Individuality and handcrafted work. This graceful wall tapestry has been woven on a Jacquard loom, giving an exceptionally detail to the weave & which fits comfortably into today's interiors.
