Wool Tapestry-Inspired Scarf

In stock
  • This luxurious wool scarf is inspired by three colourful tapestries hanging in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries, Westminster Abbey.   The original tapestries were commissioned in 1910-14, and were woven in wool and silk at the Merton Abbey Tapestry Workshop, founded in 1881 by William Morris.  The designs were taken from the wooden sedilia (seats for priests) next to the Abbey's High Altar (originally painted in c.1307) and feature King Henry III, St John the Evangelist and St Edward the Confessor.

It's made by UK-based British design studio, Wallace Sewell. The initial design process begins on handlooms in the London and Dorset studios and production then takes place in a family-run mill, fusing tradition with state of the art technology.
