  • Inspired by the clock in the North-West tower, this gold plated pocket watch has been exclusively designed for Westminster Abbey.
The mechanical half hunter timepiece has a pierced front casing allowing the time to be read without opening, and echoes the design of the Abbey’s single hand clock.
The back of the watch is partially glazed to allow the mechanical movement to be seen. The watch comes complete with a pocket chain and is gift boxed.
The clock in the North-West tower was installed in 1738, although the western towers were not fully completed until 1745. The clock was made and installed by James Seddon, at a cost of £140. At that time it was common for tower clocks to only have an hour hand.
It is surmised that the design of the dial was by the architect of the towers, Nicholas Hawskmoor, judging from the stone equivalent of the dial set in the other tower.
