Description
This bookmark is inspired by the Litlyngton Missal manuscript.
This magnificent Latin manuscript, one of the largest surviving medieval manuscripts, is richly decorated with coloured inks and gold leaf. In two volumes, the pages contain the readings and prayers used at the celebration of the Mass, along with a calendar of festivals and saints' days. It also includes services particularly associated with the Abbey, such as the coronation order and observances for the feasts of St Edward the Confessor.
The manuscript was made between 1383 and 1384.
Produced exclusively for Westminster Abbey Enterprises Limited as part of our triforium collection, celebrating the opening of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries at Westminster Abbey.
