  1. Book of the Month

    Our book of the month for April is For the Love of the Royal Family: A Companion by Roger Bryan. We have chosen this fascinating book as it filled with intriguing facts that will interest royalists and non-royalists alike.  

    The book has been written by Roger Bryan who has had many brushes with the monarchy in his long career as a journalist. You can feel his genuine love for the royal family come through in this wonderful book: from his introduction where he tells of creating a scrapbook for the Queen’s coronation at age six, to his light-hearted asides which provide little known facts throughout the book.

  2. Shakespeare Comes Alive at Westminster Abbey

    23rd April is a special date in the literary and theatrical worlds, as it marks the anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare in 1616. It is also used as the anniversary of Shakespeare’s birthday as no birth records were kept to know for sure, however church records indicate he was baptised on 26th April so it can be assumed he was born a few days prior to this. Although Shakespeare is remembered all year round at Westminster Abbey with his memorial in Poets’ Corner, we are celebrating this occasion with a special event in partnership with Shakespeare’s Globe.

  3. The Queen

    Our latest CD release is Organ Masterpieces from the Lady Chapel of Westminster Abbey, which features James O’Donnell playing a recital programme of Bach, Purcell, Handel and others on the Queen’s organ at Westminster Abbey. This is the first time that a recording has been made of this organ, one of the newer additions to the Abbey.

  4. Easter at Westminster Abbey

    Easter is one of the most important festivals within the Christian calendar as it celebrates the events which founded the Christian faith.  As such, there will be many services held over the course of Holy week at Westminster Abbey.

The service will include a procession into the Abbey which symbolises Christ’s entry to Jerusalem.
